Goal

Strategy
Managing entry:
Recruitment and selection

  • The aim is to appoint the best person for the job in line with the commercial and cultural needs of the business and this will be achieved through:
    - striving to increase the proportion of vacancies filled by our existing staff
    - carrying out selection fairly, objectively and cost effectively
    - maintaining a professional standard throughout the process ensuring that the Company Brand image and Brand Values are demonstrated.
  • To ensure that new staff are effectively inducted into the Company.

Managing Performance:
Employee Communications

  • To ensure that staff have timely briefings about the performance of the company and on corporate and local issues.
  • To encourage continuous development in our communications so that upward, downward and lateral communication is effective.
  • To promote an open and honest environment by ensuring that staff are involved in decision making on matters that directly affect them through consultation and being given the opportunity to challenge.


Employee Development

  • Ensure that performance is reviewed on an ongong basis in a manner that allows staff to know how they are doing, how they contribute to overall objectives, to communicate confidently and openly with their Manager, to be involved in performance objective setting and to be supported through a framework of learning and development interventions and continuous individual development.
  • Ensure that staff learning and development directly support the Company objectives. This will be delivered either by:
    - qualified and experienced external professionals within their field of expertise who demonstrate best practice and who respect our company culture and guiding principles, and/or
    - by internal professionals who have the appropriate skills and expertise and who demonstrate best practice
  • Ensure that staff are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning

Diversity

  • To promote an environment where diversity is valued and where the company's goals and objectives are met by respecting and embracing everyone's individual skills, knowledge, talents and potential.
  • Across the company to ensure that individuals are treated fairly, reasonably and with respect and dignity in a consistent manner.
  • To ensure that individuals are treated on their merit without regards to race, sex, colour, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability or life threatening disease.

Learning Environment

  • To encourage an environment where staff are working together, across the Altro Group, openly in a proactive way by sharing information, knowledge and best practice and also challenging each other in a constructive way.
  • To encourage individuals to develop internal/external contacts where they can benchmark for best practice and share knowledge and skills to support continuous improvement.
  • Provide an environment of continuous learning where staff develop their skills in line with the changing needs and for the future growth of the business.

  • To ensure that our policies provide a fair remuneration and benefits package which is performance related.

  • To ensure that individuals are supported in a professional and empathetic way, that confidentiality is respected and that staff are provided with practical help wherever appropriate.

Managing exit:

  • To develop fair and consistent policies for managing exit via resignation, redundancy, dismissal and retirement.
