The warmer alternative at Hammersmith Hospital

Hammersmith Hospital renal dialysis unit was the first health organisation to trial Altro Timbersafe, which replaced a grey safety floor to provide the unit with a fresh, bright and homely feel. This helped to relax ill patients, who are undergoing painful treatment for hours at a time. Dave Edwards, capital projects officer, worked with the hospital's estate manager and renal unit's ward sister when selecting the new floor. "The patient environment is key to recovery and well-being," explained Dave. "We needed a newfloor that would stand up to the wear and tear of a busy unit, yet still look attractive and welcoming. "We felt that Timbersafe hits both of these marks - the possibility of slips and trips is minimised with Altro's safety flooring and it looks just like real wood. It makes a real difference to the unit as a whole." In addition, Timbersafe offers the high performance associated with Altro floors. The new range offers excellent slip resistance, underlining the company's commitment to supporting the HSE's legislation on slips and trips. Hardwearing and resistant to scuffs and impact, it also incorporates Altro Maxis Technology and AltroSan for ease of cleaning and hygienic performance.
