Welcome to our page of Altro doorsets frequently asked questions. We have tried to address many of your queries but please contact us if your specific question is not answered here.

A.   An Altro doorset is a complete door/frame unit faced with Altro Whiterock or Altro Fortis Titanium. Altro doorsets are custom-made to meet your needs.

A.    Typical applications are wide ranging and Altro doorsets can be used in operating theatres, pharmacies, kitchens, corridors, labs or lobbies.

A.    Altro offer a variety of doorsets to satisfy a wide range of application environments. Doors supplied can be non-fire rated or fire rated to FD30s or FD60s specification. Other door types including acoustic and lead-lined doors can be supplied on special request.

Our doors can be supplied in a variety of configurations such as single, unequal and equal pair doorsets.

A.    No, Altro doorsets are designed and manufactured for internal use only.

A.    Yes, usually we can include your specified ironmongery type.

A.    Yes, we can offer standard kick plates as well as mid plates.

A.    Yes, you can clad your existing doors to protect them where they need it most using Altro Fortis door protection, helping prevent scuff and impact damage. If your existing doorset is a fire-rated door, you should seek advice from the manufacturer to ensure the addition of this panel does not compromise any existing certification.

A.    You can select any option from our Altro Whiterock Satins, Altro Whiterock wall designs or Altro Fortis Titanium range. For our full colour palette, visit the individual product pages at the above links.

A.    Yes, you can have a different colour leaf and frame. And, you can also select a different colour/design for the front and back of your doorset.

A.    The lead-time for Altro doorsets is 6-8 working weeks from order and signoff/approval of schedule.

A.    Each door is constructed of a solid core and the frame is a hardwood with MDF architraves. Both elements are encapsulated with Altro Whiterock or Altro Fortis Titanium. Frames are supplied with secret fix detail to avoid the requirement for pellets to conceal fixings.

A.    The doorset is supplied with all ironmongery. Doors will come with hinges fitted, relevant apertures fitted and locks fitted. Any face fixed items such as door handles, pull handles, etc. will need to be fitted on site.

A.    The unit is supplied on a pallet. Single doors and frames will be delivered as a pre-hung set. Pairs will come in ‘knock down’ form (they are pre-hung in the factory to ensure tolerances are correct, then split down for ease of transport. This means the frame is assembled but doors are loose).

A.    Although these doorsets are relatively easy to install, we recommend they are either installed by one of our Premier Installers or by a competent tradesperson familiar with installing fire doors.

A.    We require a full specification detailing your structural opening size (width x height) and the required partition / frame depth, fire rating, ironmongery and colour requirements as well as the format of the door, i.e., vision panels and leaf configuration.

A.    As part of the ordering process, we will share a detailed schedule outlining the appropriate specification for your approval. This ensures the doors we supply are exactly to your requirements.

A.    We are unable to supply a sample of one of the doorsets but we can supply samples of the finishing material so you can see the finish and colour of the door. However, you can view a sample doorset by contacting your local Altro Representative.
