Alliance Health at Marie Esther is a senior living community in the USA that provides a variety of elderly care services. The rest home offers residents wellness programs, social activities and additional support with activities of daily living.
To continue providing the highest level of care, Marie Esther Rest Home underwent a renovation, elevating its living spaces with evidence-based design demonstrating that living environments can influence a person’s wellbeing.
Designs that are friendly to older people and those with dementia can significantly improve their daily lives by reducing stress, frustration, and confusion. Marie Esther helped achieve this by upgrading the residents’ bathrooms to make them feel more homely. Tile-effect wall panels that simulate the feeling of ceramic tiles and a calming colour for the floor were specified. In addition, with the residents of senior living facilities at a higher risk from contracting an infection, hygiene and safety from slips were critical criteria for the floors and walls.
