Opera Bingo, a new club in Barrow-in-Furness, needed an energetic bar space to give a contemporary, fresh approach to bingo that would attract customers of all ages. In such a busy club it was important that the new floor would not only look good but be durable and easy to clean. Bignell Shacklady Ewing was asked to create the new space, with interior designer Emily East leading the project.
Emily was asked to represent the local area, achieved using wall murals, graphics and photography. She wanted to complement this with flooring that would enhance the contemporary feel that her client wanted, giving it a ‘chic and funky’ feel. Altro Ensemble was chosen for the club’s book sales counter, corridors, and in a herringbone pattern in three shades to create a unique look for the bar area.
“The Altro Ensemble colour options worked well in this format, complementing the other interior finishes. The overall effect is a wonderfully rich and contrasting pattern that is beautiful to look at; adding a superb quality feel. It makes a fantastic first impression,” said Emily.
For Head of Operations and Finance for Opera Bingo, Daryl Davidson, Altro Ensemble provides the modern, high quality look needed to set Opera Bingo apart, but also delivers in another area:
“Altro Ensemble is fitted in the club’s high traffic areas, and it will stay looking good for many years to come. It’s comfortable to walk on, too, very easy on the feet and the cleaning staff are delighted with how easy it is to maintain. I would certainly recommend the flooring to anyone who is looking for beautiful, chic, comfortable and practical.”
The project has scooped an Altro Design Recognition Award. Dave Ford, Altro’s Specifications Manager – North, said “The effect of this design is modern, striking and dynamic.”
