Altro Whiterock wall designs, Altro Whiterock, Altro Aquarius
Everett, Washington, USA - One in four adults in the U.S. experience a diagnosable mental health disorder each year. For those facing crisis, distress, or conditions that disrupt daily life, access to safe and supportive care is essential.
To meet that need, Compass Health launched a three-phase capital initiative to redevelop its Everett campus. The new 72,000 square-foot Phase II facility, recently named the Marc Healing Center, is designed to reflect clinical excellence while creating a warm, welcoming environment for community-based mental health care.
The Marc Healing Center will house several critical services, including a 16-bed evaluation and treatment (E&T) unit, a 16-bed crisis triage center, intensive outpatient behavioral health programs, offices for crisis prevention, outreach and community engagement. These services bring together essential support in one accessible location for individuals with intensive behavioral health needs.
“For the Marc Healing Center, Compass Health wanted durable, yet attractive floor and wall products that were easy to clean and maintain in this behavioral health facility, leading to the specification of Altro,” said Tom Kozaczynski, Chief Advancement Officer at Compass Health.
The project team selected Altro for its reputation in behavioral and mental health environments, prioritizing materials that are easy to clean, tamper-resistant and visually comforting. Altro Aquarius was installed in patient bathrooms and shower areas to reduce slip risk whether users are barefoot or wearing shoes. The heat-welded seams and polyurethane adhesive ensure a tamper-resistant floor.
Altro Whiterock and Altro Whiterock wall designs were chosen for the walls to provide a seamless, hygienic and impact-resistant surface. These products can be thermoformed on site to bend around corners. This eliminates the need for accessories and sharp edges that could cause harm.
To support a biophilic design strategy, the team selected Warm Woodgrain from the Altro Whiterock wall designs collection. Its natural look and tone aligned with the project’s goal of creating calming, nature-inspired interiors that promote healing and reduce anxiety.
Every product choice was intentional, selected to support healing, reduce risk and foster a secure environment. To complement Altro’s integrated system, the Marc Healing Center also incorporated ligature-resistant mirrors and shelving from Whitehall Manufacturing, designed to install flush against the wall for safety while maintaining a clean, modern look.
With thoughtful design and purposeful product selection, the Marc Healing Center creates a safe, healing-centered space for individuals on their path to recovery.
