How customer visits drive innovation

At Altro, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. In 2024, we opened our doors to nearly 90 customer visits at our Letchworth HQ, welcoming over 350 visitors from 11 countries, including Denmark, Germany, Spain, Japan, Turkey, and beyond. Our Dessau site in Germany also got involved, hosting six visits from seven countries.

It’s safe to say it’s been a busy and exciting year for meeting with our customers face-to-face!

Who our visitors were

Our visitors come from diverse market sectors—healthcare, transport, housing, hospitality, catering, and more. From contractors and architects to distributors and installers, each visit was a chance to dive into their world, understand their challenges, and learn how we can support them better.

 

The evolution of ‘Voice of the Customer’

Back in 2008, we realised we needed to rethink how we engaged with customers. So, we launched our ‘Voice of the Customer’ programme. It’s all about moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach and truly listening to what our customers need.

These visits have become more than just tours; they’re about:

  • Building genuine relationships
  • Giving customers a behind-the-scenes look at our products and processes
  • Collaborating on exciting opportunities for the future
  • Gaining invaluable insights to improve and innovate together

Collaboration fuels innovation

This collaborative approach has changed how we work.
It’s helped us:

  • Build trust and transparency
  • Spot trends and tackle challenges across different industries
  • Create initiatives like our Care, Neurodiversity, and Transport forums
  • Develop customer-inspired products like Altro Aquarius, Altro Pisces, Altro Wood adhesive-free, and more

Looking ahead

Reflecting on 2024, we’re grateful for the opportunity to meet, learn from, and collaborate with so many incredible people.
