At Altro, we’ve long understood the impact colour has on how people feel, interact, and experience a space. So, we were thrilled to bring that conversation to life through talks, workshops and real-time inspiration during CDW25.
We were delighted to welcome Laura Perryman, colour and material designer and author of The Colour Bible, to our showroom. Laura’s session explored how colour trends are evolving and how designers can use texture, hue, and materiality to support mental wellbeing, inclusivity, and sustainability.
Laura’s talk sparked valuable discussions around sensory design and the responsibility designers have to create spaces that not only look good but also feel good. This aligns closely with Altro’s ongoing commitment to inclusive design – particularly in sectors like healthcare, education and social housing.
Visitors were lining up for the chance to take part in Jennie Durham’s interactive colour theory sessions. With her warm, engaging approach, Jennie helped guests understand the difference between warm and cool tones, and how colour choice can influence mood, perception, and personality.
Jennie’s sessions weren’t just about aesthetics; they reinforced a key message that echoes across Altro’s design philosophy: colour is personal, emotional, and impactful. Whether it’s calming blues in a healthcare setting or energising warm tones in a school corridor, the right colour choice can truly transform a space.
At Altro, colour isn’t just a design choice – it’s part of how we create safe, inclusive, and engaging environments. Whether it’s the calming shades in our Altro Whiterock Satins™ wall panels or the warm, natural tones in our Altro Wood™ range, we know that colour plays a vital role in how people feel and function within a space.
We also saw incredible engagement with our tactile materials wall, moodboards, and design tools that allow specifiers to experiment with colour and texture in real time.
Clerkenwell Design Week reminded us how vital colour is in shaping environments that are safe, inclusive, and inspiring. Thank you to everyone who joined us – from our speakers and team to every guest who stopped by for a chat, a coffee, or a bit of colour inspiration – we can’t wait to welcome you back next year!
