Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) North View Hospital is a £105.9 million, bespoke, state-of-the-art adult mental health inpatient hospital which includes a purpose-built Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and adult acute and older adult wards for female and male adults. GMMH North View Hospital delivers a state-of the-art therapeutic environment to support service user recovery and enable staff to deliver the highest quality of care.
The design ethos for GMMH North View Hospital was always ‘More Than Just a Building’. This attitude focused attention on what users of the building (service users, staff and visitors) might feel and experience. With the resultant space prioritising service user comfort, dignity and recovery and staff satisfaction and wellbeing.
To meet this ethos, the individual wards were designed with a biophilic theme, and the project team were keen for the designs to incorporate local nature, and for the colours to flow into each wards theme.
To create the bespoke designs for the walls, Altro Whiterock Digiclad (Custom) was specified. Hard-coat technology provides scratch-resistant properties for added surface protection of the chosen designs. The custom printable wall panels provide a durable, easy-to-clean solution for areas that need to look attractive.
