Marigold House in Queensland, Australia, is a thoughtfully redesigned family home that balances accessibility, dignity and warmth. Brinnie T Design transformed the space for Michelle, Andy and their blended family, with a focus on supporting Alec, who lives with San Filippo Syndrome. The result is a safe, personal and welcoming home, brought to life through considered design and reliable Altro solutions.

The family needed a home that was safe, easy to maintain and supportive of complex care needs, while still feeling warm, residential and sensory-friendly. Alec’s condition affects both his mobility and cognition, so he requires significant daily assistance, particularly during personal care.
Designer Jo Viney integrated accessibility into the design by selecting materials, colours, lighting and layouts that met Alec’s needs, supported carer safety and maintained a calm, residential, sensory-friendly environment.

A combination of Altro floor and wall systems help create a safe, hygienic and practical interior. Altro Wood adhesive-free in colour Frosted Oak was installed throughout to offer slip resistance and a warm residential look.
In Alec’s ensuite, Altro Aquarius in colour Treefrog provides reliable slip resistance for both barefoot and footwear use in wet areas.
Altro Whiterock Satins wall sheets in colour Seafoam were used to eliminate grout lines, resist moisture and improve durability. Together, these floor and wall products support safety, ease of maintenance and a welcoming home environment.

Altro Whiterock Satins™ wall cladding provides hygienic, grout-free protection that is resistant to moisture, impact and stains, with a smooth satin finish suitable for residential healthcare settings.
