The Primrose Unit at Bedford Hospital is a cancer treatment unit with facilities to treat a wide range of cancers and provides a full complement of high quality, clinical and support services. A new wellbeing room and garden has been created for the Primrose Unit, which provides vital support and information for cancer patients.
The Primrose Unit Wellbeing Room design needed to reflect a calming space, avoiding a sterile, hospital feeling. Charmaine Norrish, Fundraising Manager at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Charity said: “It is always so rewarding when we can enhance patient care and wellbeing - designing areas such as these do exactly this.”
Altro Wood Comfort in colour Classic Walnut helps to reduce noise transference with 14dB impact sound insulation and provides comfort underfoot. Altro Whiterock Digiclad (Custom) wall sheet was printed with a local landscape image giving a natural, biophilic element to the space. Altro Whiterock Satins, in colour Vibrance applied to the reception desk provides a splash of colour and protection from bumps and knocks. Altro Serenade in colour Andante was used to reduce the transfer of noise in walkways.
