Altro Suprema, Altro Wood, Altro Operetta, Altro Fortis Corner Protection
The James Hehir Building at The University of Suffolk is home to a new BSc (Hons) dental hygiene and dental therapy training programme, which aims to address local needs for dental professionals. The programme provides a teaching environment for student dental hygienists and therapists in ten fully equipped dental surgery units on the University campus. The new facility was opened by The University of Suffolk Dental Community Interest Company helping to deliver the new NHS Primary Care Dentistry contract.
The new training facility features its own unique branding and the internal spaces needed to reflect this branding, while meeting a technical specification that included ease of cleaning and comfort underfoot. Spaces also needed to be welcoming and calming for patients visiting the school for dental treatments. “We wanted to specify Altro floors, having worked with them on a variety of healthcare projects and they are our go-to products. They fit the specification requirements and have a really good colour range,” said specifier Vanessa Wong, Interior Designer at KLH Architects.
To assist with the branding design, Altro Suprema in five different colours was used throughout the building creating zoned areas. Altro Operetta was specified to create the wayfinding lines, matching the dental furniture. Altro Wood was chosen for the waiting and circulation areas providing a biophilic, softer, less clinical and more homely feel for patients. Altro Fortis corner protection was installed providing protection from bumps and scrapes in the busy corridors.
