Guadalajara, Spain - The Agricultural Research Institute in Guadalajara, Spain, underwent modernization and refurbishment, presenting a unique challenge to designers: upgrading the 70-year-old building while preserving its traditional Spanish character. The primary goal was to improve energy efficiency and redesign spaces for new functions, including research and development.
The institute aimed to create a welcoming and healthy interior spaces while maintaining the integrity of the building’s structure and design. Minimizing disruption and odors during the process was critical and the flooring needed to provide thermal insulation to enhance energy efficiency and ensure interior comfort for staff and visitors.
To address these requirements, DUNAR Architects selected an adhesive-free flooring solution that enhanced cleanability, making it ideal for high-traffic spaces where minimal disruption and the absence of adhesive odors during installation were essential.
