The refurbishment of the Plaza de Abastos de Torrelavega was an ambitious project, improving and modernizing a central market first constructed in 1911.
“We needed to make the old market compatible with modern hospitality. For this reason we looked for a floor able to withstand foot and heavy loads including wheeled traffic, was slip-resistant and easy-to-clean and maintain,” explained Javier López, Councilor for Works of the City of Torrelavega and Deputy Mayor.
Óscar del Tío of Decoraciones Honorato, the company that supplied and installed the Altro floors, said: “The priority was to avoid slips from rainwater and from the different market stalls such as water spills from fish vendors and fat spills.” The client opted for Altro Stronghold 30 for over 6,000 square feet of customer areas.
Altro Stronghold 30 achieves Altro’s highest slip resistance rating and helps to minimize risk in wet and greasy conditions for the lifetime of the flooring. This range also helps reduce fatigue thanks to its 3mm thickness, providing ample noise reduction and comfort underfoot.
