Altro Whiterock, Altro Whiterock Chameleon
Responsible for developing, testing and distributing countless prescription drugs for the general public, pharmaceutical facilities adhere to a strict hygienic code. These environments strongly enforce protocols intended to prevent infections in patients that can occur when sterile compounds used to create medications are contaminated with harmful microbes during the manufacturing process or when stored improperly.
Interior finishes, such as wall paneling, are under close scrutiny in sterile application areas. Regulation requires that finishes must be smooth, non-porous, non-shedding, easy to clean and resistant to chemicals as well as staining. The actual installation must also be seamless to prevent cracks, gaps and fissures that can harbor microscopic bacteria.
A hospital pharmacy unit in Richmond, BC realized that Altro wall panels satisfy these regulatory requirements and specified a combination of Altro Whiterock and its glossed counterpart, Altro Whiterock Chameleon, for their recent renovation. Those involved in the decision were particularly fond of Altro Whiterock’s impressive hygienic properties and bacteria resistance.
Altro Whiterock’s meets ISO Class 2 and above cleanroom requirements, allowing it to be installed in even the most stringently controlled environments. It is also USP 797 and USP 800 compliant for healthcare and pharmaceutical applications where sterile compounds are prepared, stored and dispensed.
Once installed, Altro Whiterock wall panels are heat welded together using a color matched vinyl weldrod. This process creates a smooth, seamless surface that ensures there is no place to harbor contaminants.
