Altro Aquarius, Altro Stronghold 30
Last June, the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital opened, specializing in adult and children’s mental health. Located in the Cup d’Or area, the opening of this complex is to help meet the increased demand for mental health services in Catalonia.
Two Altro floors have been installed at the hospital, to support the safety and wellbeing of patients and staff. Altro Aquarius has been installed in bathrooms and dressing rooms and Altro Stronghold 30 in the kitchen area.
Carles Sàez Llorca, Carme Casals Serrano, Pere Robert Sampietro and Josep Maria Mezquida Casases, architects of the project and Directors of Work, opted for Altro, “for its ease of maintenance, safety, hygiene, slip-resistant properties and resilience.” In addition, Carles Sàez said Altro floors were chosen for their “quality and good finish.”
Altro Aquarius was installed in the bathrooms of patients’ rooms, as well as in the bathrooms and dressing rooms of staff.
Altro Aquarius was developed for lasting performance in shoes or barefoot.
Achieving Class B to DIN 51097 for barefoot use, plus PTV ≥50 (Slider 96), it provides optimum lifetime sustained slip resistance in wet and dry environments. The range features plain and tonal chip options to help you achieve high contrast and design flexibility. It has been extensively tested with a variety of shoes and contaminants to ensure top performance in high-risk environments. Altro Aquarius retains its slip-resistant properties for the lifetime of the flooring.
Maderas Alberch, S.A. & Leopold Urban said “Altro is a benchmark for its slip-resistant qualities.” Guifré Palau said “they are floors that are easy to clean and provide slip-resistance underfoot.”
Altro Stronghold 30 was selected for the kitchen. Altro Stronghold 30 achieves Altro’s highest rating for slip resistance (PTV ≥55, R12) and is designed to minimize risk in areas exposed to grease, oils and fats for the lifetime of the flooring. As well as helping to keep staff safe from slips, it also helps reduce their fatigue, thanks to its 3mm thickness which provides noise reduction and comfort underfoot.
“In the kitchen the floor is resistant to the passage of carts. In addition, it is very watertight and washable with pressure washers,”said Guifré Palau, Director of Management and General Services.
