In order to offer residents suffering from these conditions effective care in a familiar environment, The Mooring’s owner enlisted Gawron Turgeon Architects to design the ideal facility.
“The overall challenge for The Mooring project was to create a functional, residential scale, small house community with a New England cottage style aesthetic. We also had to offer the safety and durability necessary for continuous 24/7 care the residents of this home need,” explained Deirdre Pio, Director of Interior Design at Gawron Turgeon.
Deirdre and her team knew that finding a fashionable and practical flooring solution was essential for making the facility’s design concept a reality. “Safety, durability and cleanability were the key factors in selecting our floors for The Mooring project. We were also tasked with finding products that would blend nicely with the client’s vision of creating a residential cottage interior with tranquil finishes and an overall soft palette.”
After careful consideration, the firm decided that Altro’s portfolio of safety and smooth flooring products satisfied The Mooring’s unique requirements. “The Altro Lavencia luxury vinyl planks were the perfect solution, adding warmth from the wood visual for the dining room, corridors, activity room and sunroom,” Deirdre stated. “We also specified Altro Aquarius flooring in all of the private resident room bathrooms for the slip resistance needed, and the vast offering of color options made it easy for us to select a color within our design concept.”
