A.   Altro Tegulis is a tile-effect wall cladding system designed to replicate the look of ceramic tiles while delivering superior hygiene, durability and ease of maintenance. Featuring etched grout lines and a contemporary palette of colours and designs, Altro Tegulis offers a modern alternative to traditional tiles without the hassle of grout.

Perfect for areas where aesthetics matter but performance is critical, Altro Tegulis is ideal for bathrooms, non-commercial kitchens, supermarket counters, bars, cafés, restaurants, spas, hotels, schools, universities, care homes and domestic adaptations – anywhere you’d traditionally use ceramic tiles, but want a solution that’s faster to install, easier to clean and built to last.

A.    We are expanding and evolving Altro Tegulis to offer even more design choice and simplicity when specifying. The 2025 refresh includes:

• New tile patterns, subtle format updates, and integration of colours from the Altro Whiterock Satins™ range
• An extended palette now featuring the full Altro Whiterock™ wall designs collection - offering even more natural, stylish finishes
• A new three-tier structure to help guide design and pricing choices:
  • Essence collection – essential, clean-lined patterns like Metro and Herringbone
  • Deluxe collection – more intricate styles like Mosaic, Chevron, Square and KitKat

A.    Altro Tegulis now features a refreshed and expanded portfolio of tile-effect designs, grouped into three easy-to-navigate tiers, each available across Altro Whiterock White, Altro Whiterock Satins, and Altro Whiterock wall designs - giving you maximum flexibility with virtually endless design possibilities.

For bespoke designs that are truly one-of-a-kind. From stylised logos and patterns to engraved visuals, custom tile layouts can be created to suit any brief.

A.    Altro Whiterock is our proven, high performance, hygienic system which is impact-resistant, impermeable, grout-free and easy-to-maintain. Altro Tegulis uses our existing Altro Whiterock Satins or Altro Whiterock wall designs ranges to replicate the look and feel of tiles using innovative custom-etched grout lines eliminating the cleaning, repair and hygiene issues often associated with traditional ceramic tiles.

A.    We know that with so many design and colour options available, choosing the right combination can feel overwhelming. That’s why we have worked closely with design and colour specialists to create a curated Altro Tegulis Essence range – a selection of colour and tile pattern combinations that we believe work beautifully across diverse settings.

These are the combinations featured on our sample card and website to make specification easier.

The showcased options include:

• From Altro Whiterock Satins: White, Hessian, Serenity and Twilight
• From Altro Whiterock wall designs: Soft Elegance, Soft Woodgrain, Urban Mineral, Warm Concrete, Warm Elegance, White Elegance, White Mineral, and White Woodgrain

However, this is just a starting point – you can still specify any colour from the full Altro Whiterock Satins or Altro Whiterock Wall designs collection within the Altro Tegulis Essence tile patterns, and there is no additional charge for doing so. And for even more flexibility, all colours and designs from Altro Whiterock Satins and Altro Whiterock wall designs are also fully available in both the Altro Tegulis Deluxe and Altro Tegulis Custom tile ranges.

A.    Altro Tegulis uses the standard 2.5m by 1.22m Altro Whiterock sheet. However, to fit the published tile sizes of the different tile patterns onto the sheet, the finished wall panels may be slightly smaller and/or narrower compared to the base sheet.

A.   Altro Tegulis offers the look of ceramic tiles with none of the hassle. Unlike traditional tiling, which requires time-consuming grouting and can be prone to cracking or chipping, Altro Tegulis is supplied in large sheets with etched “grout” lines, making installation faster and easier.

A.    Altro Tegulis can be used in almost any area that a ceramic tile can be used. However, we do not recommend that Altro Tegulis is used behind any intense heat sources such as cooker hobs.

A.   

• Altro Tegulis is installed in a similar way to Altro Whiterock. Altro Tegulis is fully bonded to the substrate giving a tough and robust finished surface
• Joints between sheets are sealed behind the sheet using Altro sanitary sealant, ensuring a watertight and impervious wall finish

A.   Altro Tegulis should be installed using one of the following recommended adhesives for a fully bonded installation that qualifies for our 10-year guarantee:

• AltroFix W139 (2-part Polyurethane) – for all substrates
• AltroFix W157 (1-part Acrylic) – for porous, dry substrates
• AltroFix W639 (hazard-free 2-part MS Polymer) – for sensitive environments

A.    Altro Tegulis has a range of purpose-designed trims and jointing solutions to ensure a hygienic, durable, and visually seamless installation.

For joining two sheets, we recommend one of the following systems:

• Half-lap joint – ideal for wet environments or areas with high humidity. Sheets are engineered with a built-in overlap, sealed with Altro sanitary sealant to form a watertight, secure connection.
• Interlock joint – used with specific tile designs such as Metro and Herringbone, this edge profile slots into the adjacent sheet to create a discreet, almost invisible joint. Best suited for dry areas.

Additional accessories include:

• Altro sanitary sealant – recommended for internal corners and other areas where flexibility and watertight performance are critical
• Start/edge trims
• Cut tile transition trims
• External corner trims

These solutions ensure a clean, professional finish that complements the visual design and maintains hygiene performance throughout the installation.

A.    We do not recommend thermoforming Altro Tegulis as this may warp the tile effect look. For internal corners the sheet can be butted into the corner and sealed with silicone sealant. External corners can be fitted using the External Altro Tegulis Trim (A953).

A.    Yes. A festool and pressure guide is the best method, however a jigsaw fitted with a fine-tooth metal cutting blade or fine-toothed handsaw can also be used for more intricate sections to be cut.

A.    Yes. The surface is smooth, wipe-clean, and designed to resist dirt and bacteria. Routine cleaning with a mild detergent is all that’s needed - no harsh chemicals or scrubbing required.

A.    Altro Tegulis is manufactured to order and is usually supplied within four weeks from acceptance of a written quotation and sales order.

A.    Altro Tegulis is supported by a 10-year guarantee as well as the peace of mind that comes with buying an Altro product.

What information do I need to supply when I make an enquiry about Altro Tegulis?

We require a full specification detailing:

• Size of area to be installed
• Required tile pattern
• Chosen base sheet colour/design
• Jointing method (half-lap or interlock)
• Orientation of the sheet (vertical or horizontal)
