Altro Whiterock, Altro Suprema
Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC) is a nationally recognized, 187-bed not-for-profit children’s hospital. CCMC offers a wide-range of pediatric services which includes five specialty care centers.
The Connecticut Children’s Specialty Care Center in Farmington, part of the greater CCMC organization, is home to Connecticut Children’s division of sports medicine. This medical center was in need of a renovation to several of their operating rooms.
The designer was looking for a hygienic walling surface and a truly slip resistant floor that did not require a finish. DiGiorgio Associates out of Boston, MA specified Altro Suprema and Altro Whiterock to be installed in two of the operating rooms.
Altro Suprema is an ideal choice for operating rooms and healthcare areas requiring slip and stain resistance as well as a high level of durability. Altro Suprema offers a safe solution in areas where spillage from medical chemicals or cleaning solutions may occur.
Altro Whiterock was chosen due to its superior wall protection and ultra-smooth surface. Altro Whiterock and Altro Suprema work together with heat-formed corners and welded seams to prevent water, bacteria, and mold buildup from floor to ceiling. This is essential in areas such as an operating room where hygiene is of the utmost importance.
The installer, M. Frank Higgins & Co. Inc., won an AGC Build CT award for their work on the project due to the excellent craftsmanship.
The medical center is using these operating rooms as a reference and has plans to renovate two more operating rooms the same way.
