Here at the Altro Group we understand starting a new job can be a little “hair raising” so we’ve made the experience the best we can. After all, we might as well start as we mean to go on.

We won’t throw you in at the deep end.

During your first week’s induction, you’ll get a complete picture of how the business works, how your role fits in and how you can contribute to the Altro group’s ongoing success.  We will introduce you to your new colleagues from across the company and give you a site tour to show you how we make our fantastic products.  You will meet your team and, most importantly, find out who makes the best cup of tea!

And that’s only the beginning of the journey. We have a comprehensive programme of in-house training and coaching as well as access to external courses to ensure that you continue to grow and develop throughout your career with the Altro group.

Joe Tyrell Meet the team
Joe Tyrell

What is your role at Altro: As a Campaign Coordinator I am involved in the project planning of campaigns and product launches to ensure that delivery deadlines are met.

Career progression: I started my career at Altro as an Apprentice progressing to a Sales & Marketing Support Associate and now Campaign Coordinator.

Why work for Altro?: The people. Everybody is extremely friendly and open which creates a friendly and exciting environment to work in.

Shaun Robertson Meet the team
Shaun Robertson

Job title: Apprentice engineer

What is your role at Altro: My role at Altro is Engineering Apprentice. My role in the workplace involves shadowing the multi-skilled engineers, maintaining and improving the plant. I carry out projects on my own in the workshop to develop my engineering skills.

Career progression: My apprenticeship is a 2 year course with a final qualification of a level 2 NVQ in mechanical/electrical engineering. I will also have training on things like scissor and boom lifting machinery (IPAF), harness training and IOSH, among others. On completion of my apprenticeship I could progress to level 3 or further my skills in more specialist engineering areas.

Why work for Altro: I started as a temp on the production lines back in 2008. I’ve since gained experience on all areas of the production process having been made permanent after 2 years. I had an opportunity to get involved in engineering work during shutdowns, confirming my passion for fixing things and understanding how they work. When the position became available I knew I had to apply. My prior knowledge of the process helps me and the other engineers in the maintenance role.

Amy Hooper Meet the team
Amy Hooper

Job title: HR Administrator

What is your role at Altro: Responsible for putting together paperwork for the Senior HR Advisors. Logging sickness, absence, change of details for all employees. Arranging interviews and sending out contracts to new starters…amongst many other things.

Career progression: Started in 2011 as an Internal Sales Consultant in our Customer Care Centre and moved into the HR team in 2015.

Why work for Altro: I love the team I work with, and everyone around the business is so friendly.
