Altro Cookie Statement

Last Updated: December 2021

This Cookie Statement explains what cookies are and how and why we use them on our Websites.

For the meanings of the defined terms used in this Cookie Statement and to learn more about who we are, how you can contact us and how we process the personal data which you provide to us or we have collected about you, please see our Privacy Notice.

You can see when this Cookie Statement was last updated at the top of the page.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that is sent to your browser and stored on the hard drive of your computer (or internet enabled device) when you visit a website.

Our Websites use cookies to distinguish you from other users of our Websites. This helps us to provide you with a good experience when you use our Websites and also allows us to improve our Websites.

What cookies do we use?

Our Website uses first party and third party cookies for several reasons. The cookies that we use on our Website fall into the following groups:

Necessary - some cookies help make a website usable by enabling basic functions like page navigation and access to secure areas of the website. The Website cannot function properly without these cookies. The law states that we can store cookies on your device if they are strictly necessary for the operation of the Website but for all other types of cookies we need your permission.

Preferences - we use some cookies to remember your preferences in order to improve your experience of using our Website – this includes cookies to remember whether or not you consent to the use of different types of cookies we use (e.g. 'preference', 'marketing' and 'statistics' cookies).

Statistics - these cookies help website owners to understand how visitors interact with websites by collecting and reporting information anonymously.

Marketing - these cookies enable us and other companies to track and target the interests of our Website users in order to build a profile about you and send you offers and advertisements which we and they think will be of interest to you based on your visits to our Website and other websites.

You can find more detail about the types of cookies which are used on each of our Website, who sets them, what they do and how long they last for in the table below.

You can at any time change or withdraw your consent from the Cookie Declaration on the Website.

Our Website uses the following cookies:

Advertising Networks – most advertising networks offer you a way to opt out of targeted advertising. If you would like to find out more information, please visit http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or http://www.youronlinechoices.com. These websites will scan your device to tell you which of their members are using cookies on your devices in order to send you personalised advertising and provide you with the ability to turn-off cookies from those members that you choose, which includes some of the third parties who set cookies on our sites such as Facebook, Google and Quantcast.

Google Analytics – To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites, Google has made a plug-in available which you can download and install on your web-browser so that Google Analytics do not track your online behaviour when you visit our Website and other websites – you can download the plug-in here http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

What other tracking technologies do we use?

Email tracking

Some emails that we send you have no tracking in at all e.g. service emails with invoices attached. Other emails we send we put in tracking so that we can tell how much traffic those emails send to our Website, whether the user has opened and clicked on the email, which we can track to an individual level. We rarely use the latter information at a personal level, rather we use it to understand open and click rates on our emails to try and improve them. Sometimes we do use the personal information e.g. to re-email people who didn't click the first time. If you want to be sure that none of your email activity is tracked then you should opt out of Altro's emails which you can do via the link at the bottom of every email.
