Altro transport floors
Northern Rail operates a fleet of 333 diesel and electric trains, and manage 462 stations in the north of England. With a large rolling stock, built in the 1970’s, Northern Rail needed to implement a refurbishment programme to maintain their fleet, and keeping down time to a minimum was a major consideration in order to keep the company operational.
In choosing the new flooring for their passenger carriages, Northern Rail’s engineering team had five key considerations: cleanability, durability, ease of installation, aesthetics and slip resistance, but more importantly they required the back up of a great customer service team.
Having previously specified Altro whilst working for Paxtons, the coach manufacturer, Northern Rail’s Jeffrey Briston had no hesitation in recommending Altro’s range of flooring products. Jeffrey opted for refurbishing their metro fleet using Altro transport floors in both Grampian and Anvil.
