REDCAR, based in Adendorf, specialises in the design and conversion of compact special-purpose vehicles. In operation, these vehicles must meet the highest standards of safety, reliability and functionality. Every interior component needs to work seamlessly with the others to ensure smooth procedures when it matters most. For the conversion of a new ELW1 based on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, designed for a volunteer fire brigade, REDCAR was looking for a flooring solution that would reliably meet legal requirements for slip resistance while integrating effortlessly into the vehicle’s functional overall concept.
For many years, REDCAR has specified Altro flooring in the specialist vehicle sector. Building on this experience, the automotive manufacturer chose Altro Transflor Artis for this project - a floor developed specifically for use in vehicles. Beyond the required slip resistance, its self-adhesive properties proved particularly useful, allowing for significantly faster and more efficient installation inside the vehicle and helping to streamline the entire conversion process. The interior features the Maras design - a neutral grey tone that complemented the technical fittings and created a calm, purpose-driven overall appearance.
With Altro Transflor Artis, REDCAR found a flooring solution that is both highly functional and visually appealing for the fire service vehicle. The floor covering reliably meets slip resistance class R10 (PTV>36), even in wet conditions and under the intensive use typical of everyday fire service operations. Compared with previously used materials, Altro Transflor Artis is easier to install, and, thanks to ShieldGrip technology, it is particularly easy to clean. The result is a floor that brings together safety, cost efficiency and design, fitting seamlessly into REDCAR’s custom-built specialist vehicle solutions.
