With clever use of colours and combining our floor and wall systems, you can create a spa-like oasis in residential accomodation, help to make a sports changing room a dynamic and inspiring space or design a comforting bathing experience in a care home or hospital.

Preventing slips where it matters: our test results

At Altro we combine available industry slip resistance tests to get the most accurate proof of just how safe our flooring is. We believe standard industry test values don’t always provide clarity of slip potential and categories of values are too broad, which is why we combine them.

Our safety floors for wet environments are tested with real life contaminants: shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Altro Aquarius and Altro Pisces still have a PTV of ≥36 (slider 96) against all these contaminants and the risk of slipping is just one in a million; however, with water alone they maintain a PTV of ≥50 (slider 96).

Both floors achieve an R11 on the ramp test.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) states that persistent dampness and microbial growth on interior surfaces and in building structures should be avoided or minimised as they may lead to adverse health effects. To ensure a clean, healthy environment for all users install floor and wall systems that are easy-to-clean.

Having a system that does not give bacteria anywhere to hide is a priority; Altro Whiterock is a fully bonded wall system: with sealed edges, abutments and joining so you can be sure bugs are kept at bay.

Altro Oceanis is a high design safety floor designed to provide optimum slip resistance for both barefoot and shod users in bathrooms, showers and wet environments achieving Class B to EN 16165 Annex A for barefoot use, plus PTV ≥50 (Slider 96)

Altro Oceanis comes in natural wood, stone-effect and mineral designs, mimicking some of our other safety floors inspired by nature.

In addition to the expanded design options, Altro Oceanis offers enhanced underfoot comfort and provides 14dB impact sound insulation. It combines a homely aesthetic with the durability of commercial-grade performance.

  • Altro Oceanis is 2.8mm thick, delivering added comfort and accommodating the printed technology used to create the design variations.
  • Wear layer thickness: 1.0mm
  • Range: 16 SKUs – 5 stone designs, 5 wood designs, and 6 mineral designs.

This project was first initiated in 2017 following customer requests for a more decorative safety vinyl - something people would feel comfortable having in their homes as a true alternative to tiles. Demand for this solution has continued ever since.

Altro Oceanis can be used in bathrooms, wet rooms, shower areas, home adaptations, changing rooms (except where spikes/studs are worn) sauna’s, spa’s, and therapy pools with specialist care.

Altro Oceanis features Altro’s advanced Altro Easyclean technology, delivering industry-leading cleaning performance for safety flooring. This makes Altro Oceanis simple to maintain while ensuring exceptional hygiene standards. Altro Oceanis introduces a smoother surface design that retains the full slip-resistant properties of Altro Aquarius and Altro Pisces. Wet slip resistance exceeds PTV 50+ and is guaranteed for the lifetime of the floor.

No stains were evident when tested against the following (exposure time of 120 minutes):

Hair dye (including henna based), methylated spirits (70% concentration), limescale remover, mouthwash, toilet cleaner, bleach, sodium hydroxide (50% concentration), alcohol hand cleaner and bleach.
