Issue

Designing a high-performing ambulatory surgical center requires materials that withstand heavy traffic, rolling loads, and rigorous cleaning protocols without disrupting operations.

Approach

CUBE 3 focused on selecting materials that balanced clinical rigor with human-centered design. Versatile floor and wall systems were prioritized to address varying performance requirements across operating rooms, corridors, PACU bays, support spaces, and wet areas, while maintaining a unified look and feel throughout the center.

Solution

Altro Operetta was used throughout PACU and operating room corridors, nurse stations, support rooms, storage rooms, alcoves, sterile processing areas, and locker rooms. Its smooth, impervious surface supports stringent cleaning protocols and performs reliably in medium- to high-traffic areas, while also addressing rolling load and flooring transition requirements.

In the operating rooms, Altro Symphonia was selected to support a controlled clinical environment. Altro Whiterock wall systems were specified to provide a smooth, welded surface that meets the highest standards of cleanability and durability. Carefully chosen color palettes reinforce a calm, focused atmosphere suited to surgical spaces.

PACU bays feature Altro Wood flooring, introducing a warmer, biophilic aesthetic that enhances patient comfort during recovery without compromising hygiene or performance. The wood-look finish helps soften the clinical setting and creates a more welcoming experience for patients and families.

In locker room showers, Altro Aquarius safety flooring delivers enhanced slip resistance and superior moisture protection. Its durable, easy-to-clean surface supports long-term safety and hygiene in wet, high-use environments.
